Wishing I could give 10 stars. This spot is what going out to eat is all about.
Leaving the Saratoga area, this place came up on Yelp and I am so thankful to my fellow Yelpers for pointing us in this fantastic direction. It was a bit before 2pm so we made it just in time to take a look at their brunch menu.
The second I saw "Benedict Trio" I was sold. Mic drop. The end. Game over. I did take a look at the other options after though, and they all sounded mouth-watering. Kept thinking about how lucky we were to find such a place. The decor is perfect and rustic, sitting outside felt like we were at a friend's cool outdoor garage. Service was friendly and familiar. Couldn't wait to see what was in store for our meal.
Ordered a Bloody (because what is a Brunch meal without one?) and was pointed in the direction of the Bloody Mary Bar. This sent us into 10 star territory. Between the choices of hot sauces, chicken fingers, mac and cheese bites, pickles, cheeses, and more, this was for sure Bloody Mary heaven.
Entrees came out pretty quick and they were out of this world delicious. Each hollandaise sauce on each Benedict was different and better than the next. Maple flavored hollandaise was definitely the favorite.
If you are in the area, make sure to stop by, if you aren't passing through the area, make sure you make a detour and stop here. Can't wait to come back, Tipsy Moose! -

I have to say upfront I have liked the tipsy moose since day one when it open in Latham, my favorite items on thier menu is the moonshine chicken wings and they beef brisket onion soup.
One major point with the Latham restaurant you must get there before the lunch and dinner rush or your walking down the street for parking , that being said I got my regular items the wings , crispy outside, tender and juicy on the inside and the moonshine sauce was great, the only thing wrong was my onion soup, it was very salty, I've gotten several time s before and this was the frist time it was salty.
I will try it again at this location just to see if it was an off chance, also I'm not one to send stuff back I'll suffer through or just leave half. It's not worth the time and energy to wait for another item , this slow the staff down and backs up the kitchen. -

Tiny tucked away "local gem" in Latham. You would clearly drive past this place and not recognize what excellence is going on inside. They could call themselves a gastropub legit. Perfect combination of comfort food meets foodie food.
Interior is wood, ski-lodge-ish, enough TVs for sports, US Open was on, great to see in the background. Seating was all wooden stools and comfy.
The first thing you get are your drink orders and small silver plates and silverware for apps. And yes, you should order apps and come with a lot of people for splitting. We did the poutine, nachos - both served in a 12" (I believe) cast iron pan on a wood plank. Also did the avocado and pretzels. All incredible. Dipping sauces were extraordinary. The cast iron IS HOT, and keeps the food HOT. my kinda place.
Onto entrees, be careful, you will want to split those redic servings b/c they are gigantic. We did the cheesesteak, fried pastrami and grilled cheeses, brisket quesadilla, and a Mac and cheese flight. Definitely get the lobster supplement- it's probably a half lobster worth of meat with full claw and tail. We also did the app tacos with brisket. All the meats were juicy and not too smoky at all.
It's a little small inside, not an issue tho, we had a great table for our party of seven, no wait, but it is a holiday weekend, so things were light.
Had to ask for napkins and extra plates/silverware, our server was busy but was very pleasant when he spent the time with us. He had some help on drink reorders, they took care of the alcohol drinks quickly but my club soda and drinks for the kids had to be flagged down and asked for.
Really great place, and company was fantastic, we had lots of laughs in a great setting. No check shot on this review as our very generous hosts picked up the tab. -

I finally made it to the Moose. Somehow we found parking. If you read the many Yelp reviews you will discover a theme. The parking lot is small. The owner is probably losing a lot of business because of it.
With a variety of pub fare and a vast beer list the TM has become a favorite in the area.
Everything is home made, the portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. Many rave about the brunch. I will have to check it out some day.
The wife and I ordered many items to share. The portions made it impossible to finish.
We started with standard Poutine. Natural cut fries, mild cheese curds and dark brown gravy. 5 stars from me.
We had a Spinach Salad to make some attempt at including greens in the meal. Very tasty, excellent blue cheese.
My wife ordered French onion soup. She didn't get it and was trying this style of soup for the first time. I will finish the left overs :)
They have tons of sauce options for their wings. They are big and cooked crispy. Awesome blue cheese dressing. I did not care for the lack of sauce. They were tasty though.
I decided to order something crazy on the menu. When you go to the state fair you can try lots of crazy fried foods right? Some maniac at the Tipsy Moose decided to beer batter a grilled cheese! Huh? That is what I felt while I was eating it. It was paired with a thick tomato soup that was outstanding.
The concept deserves 5 stars but the actual sandwich bordered on offensive. It was huge and the most important element, the cheese, got a little lost. It was delicious when dunked in the soup. You could also throw bacon, pulled pork or brisket in the sandwich just before your trip to the emergency room. I will never order it again but the originality deserves a thumbs up.
The beer list is awesome and for what the Tipsy Moose is, it totally works. I bet you will easily find your favorite beer accompaniment..... if you find a parking spot :) -

Update: I came here again, this time with my wife, on a Saturday around noon (11:45 to be exact). We arrived at the perfect moment: a parking spot in the front was empty, a table was ready for us immediately, and it was pretty quiet inside. However, within 15 minutes all that went out the window. We waited at our table watching soccer on tv (and giggling when a person with the remote couldn't spell "soccer") until noon, when the lunch menu kicked in. As for the atmosphere, it is lively and once it gets going it is hard to hear one another.
We ordered two batches of wings and poutine fries. The fries were very disappointing. They were limp, like they were baked or steamed, and not crispy at all. The gravy was much too salty and tasted commercial. It might have been "homemade" using a starter or base, but it wouldn't shock me if it came out of a can or bag. The cheese curds were excellent, but the fries and gravy brought it all down.
My spicy bbq wings were perfect. Juicy and crispy and large, and the sauce was a nice blend of sweet and aromatic flavors and not cloying at all. However, my wife had "lemon pepper" wings that were terrible. They were cooked too long because when we got them they were dry. Not crispy, but bone dry. The dry rub had hints of acid (lemon?) and black pepper but on an overcooked wing they just accentuated a dry mouthfeel. Had they been mine, I would have sent them back.
Ironically, on the same day at the same place I had quite possibly the best wing I have ever had and the worst wing I have ever had. So, I recommend their wings still with a caveat: either she just got a bad batch or else dry rubs = dry wings. I certainly won't order dry rub wings down the road to test out the theory. Caveat emptor.
